Python language training

Goal

Understand the basics of Python in order to be able to write simple scripts for data analysis.

Audience

This training is mainly designed for biologists (researchers, engineers, technicians) but may be offered to anyone else wishing to learn the basics of the Python programming language, depending on availability.

Prerequisite: Basic computer skills for everyday use.

Content

The training will take place as follows :

First day:

Introduction to Python and Visual Code Studio
Variables
Lists
Dictionaries
Conditions

Second day:

Loops
Reading and writing files
Functions
Packages
Jupyter notebooks

Third day:

Dataframes
Plots
Bring your own analysis

The formation will alternate between presentations and practical manipulations. The program may vary depending on the progress during the training.

Organisation

Material	Participants will have to take their own laptop and verify their connection to eduroam wifi.
Location	Campus Cité Scientifique, Villeneuve d’Ascq - ESPRIT building
Language	The training will be conducted in French (if it is necessary to conduct it in English, please contact us in advance)
Date	The training will take place from Monday, March 30 to Wednesday, April 1 from 9am to 5pm.
Deadline for inscription	The inscriptions will be closed on February 13th.
Headcount	The course is designed for a group of around fifteen people.
Lunch during the training	The meal is not included but microwaves, refrigerators and several sales points are available on the campus.
