R language training


Goal

Understand the basics of R in a biological context, in order to be able to manipulate data and carry out simple analyses independently.

Audience

This training is mainly designed for biologists (researchers, engineers, technicians) but may be offered to anyone else wishing to learn the basics of the R programming language, depending on availability.

Prerequisite: Basic computer skills for everyday use.

Content

The training will take place as follows :

First day

  • Introduction to R and Rstudio

  • Basic concepts and commands in R

  • Data import and export

  • Data manipulation

  • Data visualization

Second day

  • Introduction to tidyverse and ggplot with Esquisse

  • Introduction to Rmarkdown for scientific reports

  • Manipulation of several data tables or your own data set (csv or xlsx) if wanted

The formation will alternate between presentations and practical manipulations. The program may vary depending on the progress during the training.

Organisation

Material Participants will have to take their own laptop and verify their connection to eduroam wifi. We will provide a tutorial so that the participants can install R and Rstudio before the training.
Location Campus santé, Lille - Pôle recherche
Language The training will be conducted in French (if it is necessary to conduct it in English, please contact us in advance)
Date The training will take place on Thursday 12th and Friday 13th March from 9am to 5pm.
Deadline for inscription The inscriptions will be closed on January 30th.
Headcount The course is designed for a group of around fifteen people.
Lunch during the training The meal is not included but microwaves, refrigerators and several sales points are available on the campus.
